STRUCTURAL PROJECT MANAGER
TWS Engineering Ltd. an Edmonton based engineering firm that specializes in engineering consulting and design work across most of Canada and has provided excellence in engineering consulting services since 1977. Our clientele includes the full spectrum of sectors within the construction industry. We offer full consulting and design service to our clients from the conception of a project, through construction and into maintenance. We practice in the mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, power quality, instrumentation and controls engineering disciplines. In addition, we offer forensic engineering services and power quality engineering. Skills and Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of experience in structural engineering and design for buildings.
- Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts for concrete, steel, masonry, and wood design and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Ability to carry engineering design from concept through to construction drawings.
- Knowledge of structural conceptual designs and markups for buildings and structures
- Bluebeam experience/knowledge is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding and experience in using structural modeling using ETABS, SAFE, and S-Frame software.
- Oversee production staff in the preparation of working drawings to include general arrangements, foundations, structures in steel, masonry, timber, and concrete.
- Perform field work as required during project construction.
- Perform construction field inspections and review shop drawings.
- Perform calculations to analyze and design individual building components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal engineer and department manager.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Willing to work in a team and individually.
- Familiar with permit drawings, the permitting process, and construction processes.
- Know how to design to code, and very familiar with NBCC and other codes.
- Registered with APEGA as an E.I.T. or P. Eng.
